The Elected Presidency, pp. 4 of 4

The Singaporean presidency is perhaps the one public office that has evolved most since independence and in that respect it has only grown to be more important to the lives of Singaporeans. This September’s election will be another milestone in its evolution and while many will ruminate on the new changes and decide for ourselves what we may think of them, it is important to remember that reserved or not, all communities will still be voting in this election. Whether a member of the majority or a minority, the president represents us all and belongs to us all.

An Inspiring Quote

"[Open-mindedness] includes an active desire to listen to more sides than one; to give heed to facts from whatever source they come; to give full attention to alternative possibilities; to recognize the possibility of error even in the beliefs that are dearest to us."

~ John Dewey, How We Think
